An entrepreneur is a person who starts and runs a new business or venture by turning an idea into a product or service.

• Spots an opportunity: notices a problem people face (or a need in the market) and thinks of a practical solution.
• Takes risks: puts in time, effort, and often money without any guarantee of success—profits are uncertain, and failure is possible.
• Organises resources: brings together land (space/resources), labour (workers), and capital (machines, tools, money) to produce goods or services.
• Makes key decisions: chooses what to produce, how to price it, where to sell, whom to hire, and how to respond to competition.
• Drives innovation: often introduces something new—like a better method, a new product, or a new way of delivering a service (for example, using technology to reach customers faster).
• Creates wider benefits: successful ventures can create jobs, support local suppliers, and improve people’s lives by making useful goods and services available.

Unlike a regular employee who mainly follows assigned tasks, an entrepreneur carries the responsibility of making the whole venture work.
